I was in NYC for a few days and made my way to the famous B&H photo..it was only a 10 minute walk from the hotel so I was delighted.

Anyway, I popped in on Tuesday morning last at 10am and the place was very very quiet so I had lots of time to chat with one of the helpful assistants.
I had done my homework and had a list made out. I was also buying some gear for a friend back home also.

Anyway I went for the Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX VR II as the main purchase. I also picked up a nifty fifty 1.8, extreme iii SD card, Hoya Pro 1 UV filter and a Hoya circular polariser..I didn't go for the Pro 1 of the polariser, at around $180 I chickened out..it wasn't in my budget. I also picked up a diffuser (for my SB600) and remote for my D80.

I was well impressed with the shop, so well organised and no messing. I even played around with the D3, what a beast.

Anyway, I attached the 18-200 on straight away and off i went to Madison Square Garden.

Here's a few snaps I took, they are literally snaps as I was still messing with buttons and stuff and have yet to really read the lens paperwork!!

The Knicks were playing that night so their locker room was out of bounds..we had to make do with the Rangers' room instead.

I was there two weeks ago and spent a fortune. At the same time though it was a much smaller fortune than I would spend here! It is such a good store. I was there on a monday and had time to talk in detail to the staff. There was another Irish person there too buying Nikon lenses so I had a quick chat with him. The conveyer belt for the green boxes was pretty cool.

Yeah I was there 2 weeks ago too. It is such a well organised store and the staff are very helpful. A photographers dream. Spent a fortune aswell but would have been more if the wife hadn't been there. Great value. Will go again.

yeah, i thought the conveyer system and the pay and collect setup is brilliant, it leaves the lads deal with pure photography issues with customers.

I can appreciate that sense, my wife was beside me but I did manage to make a second trip while she headed to Macy's...I think the two of us are skint this month but just not saying it :D

I was there last week as well...what I spent on 2 lenses, lens hood, 3 filters(ND, UV and B+W CPL), a tripod and tripod head I would have spent on one of the lenses over here. It truly is a religious experience for the enthusiast, they have absolutely everything under one roof....
