Recommend a maths textbook for an adult

Hi, i am a final year economics student and i will be moving on to a masters this Sept. I have successfully managed the maths and stats so far in the course, however i feel that my knowledge of the most basic of maths is left a bit wanting (what various symbols mean, algebraic rules, etc). This is due to the fact i am a mature student and didn't do very well in school (more lack of effort than ability). I think this is something i would want to tidy up over the summer before i move on to the masters in economics which will be highly quantitative. Anyway, to cut to the chase, could anyone recommend a good maths textbook that teaches the basics without being written for a secondary school student?

Something that covers algebra/calculus and matrix algebra would be handy. Thanks.

Tbh, your best bet is JC/LC textbooks. They'll be cheaper and broader than most 3rd level textbooks and cover the more basic stuff in those topics in decent enough detail. Something like Thomas' Calculus would cover a good bit but it costs a fortune. Maybe someone else could recommend a book I haven't come across
