Can't imagine any frame rental services.

TheBaz here used a company recently, I'm not sure of the costs, but it might be worth Pming him. He could have useful contact details.

I know your friend is broke but might be worth checking out atlantic homecare - they tend to have a reasonable selection of frames, usually at a decent price. They arent the best quality as a general rule but decent enough (I assume this exhibition is part of a college course exhibition?). If this isnt the case and she is fortunate enough to be holding her own exhibition (or be part of one) where the product is actually for sale then I would personally suggest you consider frame and mount very carefully as IMO it can really make or break a picture. (style/colour/aperture/bevel..etc)

Ebay might be the answer to your probs as there seems to be several companies offering frames of all different types and styles. Once again you tend to get what you pay for but should keep the budget down - there may be some mileage in that for you.

    best of luck!

Poundstore, Eurosaver and the like sell mounted prints. I think I've seen rubberwood, pine and coated MDF around that size for about a fiver.

Wainscote or Dado rail is cheaper than frame mouldings, so you could buy a hand mitre-saw and make them yourself (1.8 metres of wood per frame), but the glass and backing board will still cost about 5 euro a frame. Glass shops charge by the area and cutting is effectively free, so take the frames to get the glass fitted.

I might be willing to buy one frame, if you manage to get 19 others to do the same & I get an invitation to the exhibition.

Now there's a good offer. I'll buy a frame also, in return for the framed print post exhibition.

Is there anywhere to see her pics or style (Flickr or elswhere?)

Seems like the OP isn't replying.
I agree with ShakeyBlakey about everyone getting the same frame.
So far, you have an offer of 4.
    Only 16 to go. :)

What about trying this company in kilkenny http://www.visions.ie/ I know they deliver in the dublin area.
They only supply the trade but would consider an exhibition, If they could have some advertising at the entrance or inside saying that their frames are being used.
Their stuff is very good quality.
They supply nearly all of the higher end photo frame stores around.
Perhaps they might even lend them instead of buying.

Since Magnum P.I. has given a bit more info on the OP, I'll suspend my offer, pending further information on the exhibitor.

Even if it's for her friend, why don't she give her a loan to cover the framing costs and allow her friend to pay her back. Not a very good friend the OP is being me thinks.

Well, being "housemates" doesn't automatically mean mates. ;)

    Well now,

this is my take on it. 20 frames for a 20x16 shot must be close to something in the region of €400.00 at least. I'd blanch at spending that on frames in one go. However, it's worth talking to a framing company and see if they would do either a) a bulk deal or b) some sort of sponsorship.

That being said, I can't keep myself in frames either. I have some sympathy. To be fair, the OP didn't do a begging story for frames, she asked for information.

OP, occasionally if I need special frames, I talk to Regency Frames in Baldoyle. They may be able to help; I don't know.

That being said, June is three months away. I don't see why it's a big issue now.

Hell this is off topic but: people get paid - however, you can't comment on what they do spend their money on. I know people who have car loans and mortgages and children and reasons why a couple of hundred euro on frames are not an immediate option.

In other words, she didn't ask you to buy the frames for her and it's not up to you to judge whether she should or should not be too broke to pay for them. All she asked for were a) where are they least expensive and b) are there non-purchase options available. After that, you're into the area of judgmentalism on how other people spend their money.

Having just read it I wouldn't blame her for not posting again on this thread tbh.
Notwithstanding some generous offers that were made.
