    so i've popped into the o2 store on Patrick street in cork and asked the guy a question:;

    If i buy an iphone in the states - get it unlocked, will i be able to get the updates and subscribe to the regular 02 45euro per month plan from the 14th March without the worry of it getting bricked?? And he says yes - no problem once it's unlocked and you change over to the o2 iphone tarrif you'll be able to get the updates as if you bought it for the 18month contract...

    somehow i don't think this is 100% correct information - does anyone have any feedback in it?

    Wrong i'm afraid O2 have clarified that only o2 handsets bought from o2 ireland will be offered the iphone tarriff. Only thing you can do is add a 1gb data add on to your tarriff. Not the end of the world. Will work out a couple of euro more expensive and wont get as many mins, but i think the main thing is getting the data allowance. Wouldn't use it on speakeasy, still 1c per kb :eek:
