No doubt this has been asked around a dozen plus times, but where online can you purchase PS3 (ya 3 :) ) games online for good money. I usually use cdwow.ie for cds, nds and in the past ps2 but they don't do ps3.

    so any good sites ?

    cheers and tia!

www.videogamesplus.ca is usually well recommended here. Ship from Canada in about 5 days with €5 delivery.

    Also worth mentioning maybe
    www.movietyme.com
    www.asda-entertainment.co.uk
    www.play.com

    CDwow are rubbish though.
I'd heartily recommend videogamesplus.ca, you'll normally get your game within 4 working days of ordering it.
Movietyme are also good, but delivery takes a long time (they ship from New Zealand iirc)

Thanks for the super quick replies all ! I'll check out all those links.

Might be a stupid question, but are the games region specific and if so what region do I need to be checking for ? Same question with the blu-ray dvds, I assume that its the same as with the regular dvds, ie regions apply.

thanks for answering these basic questions !!!!!!

All games are region free, it's bloody handy!:)

As for Bluray, some are region locked but some are region free, there's a list here
The regions are also a bit different to DVDs, they're only split into 3 different regions (check out the map on the Wiki page)

Should be ok to run it on the PS3.
But there have been a few games which restrict the servers you connect to online, e.g until the last patch about 2weeks ago, COD4 eu and us players couldn't play together. Just keep a look out.

To the best of my knowledge, Canada have 110V mains power as opposed to 230V here, so you may need a voltage transformer.

Also, with such a valuable item, it might get nabbed for duty taxes by the Customs.

Is there really any point in buying a ps3 console outside of ireland ?

I was well looked after ,when the drive on my ps3 failed ,also I get to play my dvd collection upscaled.
The ps3 isn't really that expensive anymore ,no one seems to be importing the Xbox ,the ps3 is better value.

Only issue buying and/or using a foreign PS3 is the power cable. The built-in transformer is multi-voltage.

Power cable is a standard type found on the likes of kettles and computers, so once you have a 3 pin version, you're laughing.

Wouldn't I be right in also thinking that a console bought in USA will only work with Region 1 DVD's?

Not much use if you've a collection of existing R2 DVD's, unless you continue to use a seperate DVD player for those (that in itself mightn't be a bad idea anyway, help the bluray laser live longer).

    You are correct byte.

I hear that Japan are now a different region to us in Bluray terms but still region 2 for DVD. I am confused.
