Horses need help

There are horses in France in danger of being slaughtered, a few of them have been offered homes in sanctuaries in England but need donations to pay for the horses and pay for their transport from France.

Would anyone be willing to donate even a few euro?

We need to find out how many people would be willing to donate towards getting the horses to safety before a horse can be reserved since if a horse is reserved and then there is no money to help it, it will be slaughtered anyway.

Please don't start saying we'd be better off focusing on the bigger picture etc, we already know that but these individual horses also need help, and it's not fair to be focusing so much on the ''big picture'' that we forget the individuals. signing petitions and campaigning is good too but so is being practical and saving these horses lives.

They can be seen on http://www.equinesection.com in the imminent danger section. There is also a good opportunity to purchase a cheap horse as a companion or training project, there are even pregnant mares and young foals.

Totally see your point re horses needing rescuing but the problem as I see it is that you may rescue one of these horses on that site, but the meat places will be refilled by other horses so by saving one its place will only be taken by another. It is not going to do anything to stop it.

How are donations collected and what happens to the money if enough is not collected?

I know that, but this is about saving the individual. please no arguments or debates, leave than for another thread.

I am just trying to find out how many people will be willing to donate at the moment, then if there is enough people willing to make up the amount of money needed, then the donations could start being sent to the sanctuary taking the horse as they will be the ones giving the cheque to the person delivering the horse.
So far we have about €130 promised.

I wasn't trying to start an argument! I am just giving an opinion.

In France we don't save horses, we eat them. No offence.

In the past I gave a lot of money to sick horses, I didn't know they were sick when I bet on them. wink.gif

    Right, KG:

I would view this thread as breeching Boards advertising rules and also the fact that you are asking for money in what could be seen as a scam. Finally, you are promoting the sale of horses, a practice which is not allowed on boards.ie (see charter / togsters thread in feedback).

However, I have passed it on to the admins and they will decide whether it stays or goes.. in the meantime, thread locked.

Anyone who reposts will be banned outright. There will be no futher discussion on this in the equestrian forum until the admins have made their decision.

    Hagar - lol

Edit: I am sure that the ultimate decision by the admins will clarify this but boards.ie is not liable for any loss / misuse of funds which were donated. Any donations are made at the donors own risk. Boards is not associated with any of the parties involved. Boards.ie has not checked the accuracy of any claims made by posters.

2nd Edit: KG, you can't post something and then try and stop people discussing what you just posted!
