my parents have a lot of hum when watching tv.
i was asked to investigate and found that my dad had removed the ntl wall points and fitted neater, flush ones.

in doing so he removed the fm/vhf diplexer, which also prevents the above hum.

in looking for a simple solution i came across this
    http://www.cybermarket.co.uk/shopscr4767.html

anyone know where i can get one in dublin, or suggest an alternative?

Would this be of any benefit to the average user who has no problems?

Do they actually sell them Maplin? I tried to look for them (in the shop and the catalogue) before but found nothing. Are there other names they can go by?

Does it work? I would have assumed that was only designed for other RF interference, not ground loop noise, though I suppose it could deal with both.

worked perfectly for me, but my wall sockets were unscreened and i wasnt in the humor of re-wiring them to screened ones.

I got it earlier today and just tried it now. It's a high-pass filter and braid breaker. Unfortunately the filter part goes past 300MHz and also filters out all my cable TV channels. I guess it's designed for UHF only - I should have known being made by some UK company

best get that reinstalled again, i'd expect it was against 'terms and conditions' to remove it. The cable company's diplexer also impedes flow of 50Hz AC current on the cable, so has a safety function as well as being a TV/radio diplexer.

The diplexer we got from chorus last year (big metal box - much larger than the old ones) doesn't seem to solve the problem at all...

can you show me where it says that in the terms and conditions.
