How much for mole removal?

I have a mole on my face that I want to get rid of for vanity really.

I don't like it but often I forget its there until I look in the mirror, it may sound hypocritical but I don't like seeing moles on other people unless its your typical 'beauty spot'.

Does anyone know where in Dublin I can get this done?, also price or general experience if you have had one removed.

I've looked it up, I'm not expecting perfection due to where it is located

I know its not in Dublin but I've heard two good reports from friends who had some cosmetic surgery done in Clane hospital. Its not very far outside Dublin either http://www.clanehospital.ie/cosmetic.htm

Thanks for the link, I was hoping a doctor or dermatologist could do it.

Doubt it! but i could be wrong really I've no idea. Go see your gp, s/he might be able to point ya in the right direction. Good luck with it anyhow.

I think facial moles are pretty on women and sexy on men; just asking, but are you really sure you want to do this? Have you no feeling that you might regret it? It cant be undone you know!

Yeah it's a dangerous place to have it on your face cause all the sun exposure directly hits it, best to remove it. Could you get a referal from your GP?

Sorry to crash your thread OP, but I'm interested in getting a mole removed too; from my leg. Does anyone know whether going to a dermatologist is the way to get the ball rolling? Don't have a GP.

    Go to a GP.

You don't have to register with a GP if you're in the Republic, so you can go to any GP for around E50 unless you have a medical card. Ask around to get a recommendation. They can tell you what sort of mole it is and refer you to a dermatologist who will/won't recommend removal. Worth getting any moles checked out!

You can be referred to a dermatologist in the public sector in which case there might be a small fee if the mole is removed (you can claim all medical fees against tax using the MED1 form from the revenue webssite); or you can be referred to see one privately and pay cash or maybe claim against VHI if you have it.

The treatment will be the same whether public or private; the surroundings may be nicely decorated in the private sector; the waiting list is generally shorter privately - but not always! Especially if the GP marks the referral urgent, if he/she thinks it needs urgent attention.

Personally I would stay away from private cosmetic clinics.

Go see a GP who can recommend either a dermatologist or someone who can do minor surgery. But realise you could end up with a scar instead of a mole.

You are not qualified to make such a judgement.

Would VHI cover it/part of if its for vanity reasons?

Will stay away from private cosmetic surgeries.

I don't it can be removed fully due to its location so I'm hoping it can be cut with a scalpel so it is flush with my skin.

I was just saying that cause my friend had a mole on his face and cause he was always outside it was suggested that he should get it off!

My sister recently had a mole removed from her nose (she lives in England so got it through NHS), but by all accounts it was a pretty horrific procedure. Looks great now though, but it was pretty traumatic.

There's a medical centre in IFSC that i used to go to when I worked in the city centre. I discussed with one of the drs there having a mole removed from my leg. He told me that it could be one in his surgery there and I'd just take the afternoon off work. From what I remember he said that it could be done under VHI. I don't have the number as I never got around to actually getting it done, but can email one of my friends and see can I get it for u during the week if u like.

Sorry for bumping too but I'd like to get other peoples opinions. Im 17 and have a mole too on my face and its getting pretty annoying seeing as most girls hate it. Anyway I really want to get it removed but I'm really nervous about asking the parents. I dont have a clue how I can tell it to them, like I never talk to them about my personal life or anything.

I'm afraid too that the cost of getting it removed would be very expensive and my parents wont afford it (I'm trying to get a car for the summer and theyll pay for most of it). I just hate it when people are looknig staright at it when your talking too them. Btw im not leing so if ye could give me some good advise I'd very much appreciate it.
