Death by Misadventure

Hello. I am an American and need some information. My brother died in Dublin last year. He was homeless and an alcoholic. So sad. The final hours of his life are very sketchy. I was told by the guardai last year that he had been in a fight and was found near a hospital. He died later in the hospital. I just received his death certificate and cause of death reads "acute alcohol toxicity" and "death by misadventure". This is very ambiguous. What does death by misadventure mean? I was told that he had been in a fight. How do I know that he didn't die as a result of his beating? I'm mostly concerned because he has 3 children. We were under the impression that he had some heart problems but if he died of a heart attack, wouldn't this be indicated on the death certificate? He did have an autopsy performed. I was hoping that the death certificate would provide some closure, but now it just raises more questions.
