Good backup software

    Hi just looking for advice.

I just bought an external hard drive to back up my laptop but not sure what the easiest way is to go about backing up my stuff.

Ideally I would like a program that would first do an initial backup of everything and then maybe once a week I can run it and it will just add any new files or update any changes to existing files on the backup without having to run a complete backup again.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

    See ya

I use Acronis True Image myself . It's capable of doing full , incremental and differential backups - to a schedule if so desired . I've tried Norton Ghost and was surprised at how good it was and easy to use - I generally steer clear of any Symantec products . No doubt there'll be others along with their own preferred applications and you'll probably find that it's all a matter of preference :)

    Thanks for that!
Sounds like the type of thing I am looking for.

Can you customise these backups? EG can I set it to backup one folder and update it if files are deleted/modified or added and set another folder where it will just add any new files and not delete any or modify them?

    Thanks!

Sync Toy 2.0 from Microsoft will allow you to do that. You can set how you want to back things up (i.e. mirror, archive, etc). Very simple to use. It's free too!
