I want to build an air-tight house with HRV system but am building using block cavity walls - is it possible to achieve air tightness using this build method?

What areas are the most important to look out for when building? Wall Plate, Window Boards etc?

    hello,
sinnerboy, great link, thanks for that!

company below gave presentation at momebond right on the site.
    http://www.ecologicalbuildingsystems.com/products/airtightness

New part L 2007 - states air tightness test will be required as part of bldg regs from when they kick in!
"1.3.4.4 Air pressure testing should be carried out
on a proportion of dwellings on all development
    sites.

Table 4 Number of pressure tests per
    dwelling type
Number of units Number of tests
    4 or less One test"

"In general, this document applies to works to new
dwellings, where the work commences or takes
place, as the case may be, on or after 1 July 2008.
Insofar as the guidance contained therein relates to
dwellings, Technical Guidance Document L -
Conservation of Fuel and Energy (2006 Edition)
ceases to have effect from 1 July 2008.
However, the foregoing document may continue to
be used in the case of dwellings:
    - where the work, material alteration or the
change of use commences or takes place, as the
case may be, on or before 30 June 2008, or
    - where planning approval or permission has been
applied for on or before 30 June 2008, and
substantial work has been completed by 1 July
    2009.
Where the works involve the installation of oil or gas
fired boilers in either a new or existing dwelling, the
relevant aspects of this guidance applies to works
undertaken after the 31 March 2008."

google 'seda' it,s a scottish air tightness co. , or goverment body (which i,m not sure)but the web site is full of the necessary methods to achieve a set level of air tightness. i think where the help is more needed for self builders is understanding these methods completely and implementing them correctly.i think it's easier said than done
