does anyone know if it is their typical AIL teams that play in the colours match or do they only select current students to play?

It was Trinity's normal team (minus their 3 best players through injury). AFAIK UCD is a college team (unlike Trinity, which is a club) so any player would have to be a UCD student. There is no question of bringing in "ringers" for colours.

Trinity played against (I think) the Argentinian loose-head two weeks ago as he wasn't needed for Munster as there was no games because of 6 nations

The whole issue of non-students participating in university clubs has to be seriously looked at. Personally, I think it's not on.
