Ok my problem is like this, when the ac adapter for my laptop is connected everything is fine. However when it is not connected every time i click to watch a video through either wmp or gom the screen flickers just before the video comes on and just before the video ends...although its not a major problem it does get really annoying.I rang dell and their adamant about replacing both the motherboard and lcd panel which i dont really want to do..

Notes:Everything including this was working perfectly up until i reinstalled xp last week...

My friend told me to change it back to its natural resolution but it still happens

    I have a dell inspiron 9400,ati x1400 graphic card and a 6 cell battery

Couple of things, try reinstalling the original XP graphics drivers for the Ati Video card. Also goto www.filehippo.com and download both WMP11 full install and the latest Klite Codec pack and install both. See if this makes any difference, also try a different power management setting when running of battery (ie. instead of power saver switch it to full performance or the likes). Does sound more like a software issue that hardware but at least Dell are open to replaceing the hardware for you.

OK i have already reinstalled my drivers for my x1400 and yes im using the latest wmp11 and k lite codec pack...on regards to pwer management i have tried using max performance but i think this could be where the problem lies...not entirely sure though

How old is the battery? Perhaps the output has gone on it. If its still in warranty I'd honestly just ship it off and let them have their way with it.
