Without ever setting foot in Adamstown I feel confident in saying - terrible.

First you have to get onto the M50 Southbound (as the lesser of two evils) which will take a long time, secondly, getting to where you want to go in Sandyford from the M50 could take another 20/30 mins as the traffic crawls there at rush hour.

Do this twice a day for a few weeks and you'll be pulling your hair out. Is the train from Adamstown to town up and running yet? Because from Stephen's Green, Sandyford is 22 minutes by luas.

You might also want to try posting in the commuting & transport forum.

Don’t do it! you’ll commute your self into an early grave! Unless you are thinking of investing in a helicopter down the line of course.
Is the fact that this place is on the train line not the reason to move out there? So as to avoid having to take the car at all?

I think that people should just go the whole hog and buy a cheep house in Holyhead and get the HSS to work every morning. It only takes 99 minutes. ;-)

Wouldn't do it for all the money in the world.

Best option is deffo LUAS and train.

I travel from Lucan (not far from Adamstown) to blackrock every morning and evening and do take that route, passing through sandyford/leopardstown on my way. Its a bloody nightmare. i take the outer ring road (used be quiet, not anymore) to get to the naas road and from there onto the red cow (its impossible these days), I now go down belgard road and hop off to ballymount and onto the m50 from there. Nightmare doesn't stop there, traffic is backed up from firhouse to tallaght every morning, and now that they've begun work on the 3 lane system after firhouse to sandyford , the traffic doesn't ease up at all. On a good day, 1 hour to do it, but thats a good day. Traffic can be backed up onto the M50 at the Sandyford exit, moves very slowly. Bought myself a motorbike, screw the car.
