    Hi All,

The very slightest gust of wind (i.e. when heard whistling down the chimney) knocks out my Sky signal. Is this to be expected or is it as a result of the dish not being secured properly?

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

Your dish is not aligned or installed correctly

I live on top of a hill, where we have regular roaring winds - fence panels blown out in the back garden, wheelie bin knocked over and all that.

I've never have my sat signal drop because of it though - the dish seems to be solid as a rock. So no, I wouldn't say it's to be expected.

Im having the exact same problem, its happening nearly every second night now and its very very annoying.
Im trying to watch Lost at the mo and its dropping out every 20 secs..
If I ring sky to have this fixed will I have to pay a fee for the engineer call out?

I have a sky engineer coming out next wednesday to relocate my dish as its the second time in under a year its been blown out of alignment, half the channels are gone completely and the other half depend on if there is any wind so no telly for me this week then. €100 charge for the pleasure of having it fixed.

    I am having similar problems.
The mini dish is aligned correctly and is tightened well but in very poor weather like last night the signal quality goes to ~20% and breaks up alot.
In normal weather the reception is fine ~70%.
I rewired the cabling and ensured it was waterproofed with a rubber bung in an effort to improve matters.
Its still the same in high winds and driving rain but I guess its just to be expected.
My dish is quite exposed and I can see it vibrating in the wind.
I'll just have to get a larger dish or reposition the dish,it shouldnt have been installed in that position first day anyway.

sounds like the installer company needs to make money from service calls, theiving .... i have 2 dishes up and during last nights storm i had a perfect picture on all channels, SKY was spot on, i would get SKY out to repair and then flatly refuse to pay them, i really get annoyed by shoddy workmanship.

    Hi All,

Satellite signal totally dropped with the wind and rain since Wednesday night. Ventured out to have a quick look but seems to be fairly solidly in place, cable also seems to be okay.

Can anybody recommend decent repair person for ballinteer area dublin?

TV Screen has "no satellite siginal is being recieved" and a 29 in top right corner.

    Thanks,
    BW

if everything looks ok dish etc did you try switching of the box at the socket and turning it on after a few minutes, sometimes the box freezes in bad weather.

I found the same problem was happening with my disc i tightened it my self and relined it and its fine now all you need is someone to tell you if you are getting signal on the tv while you move it very slowly then tighten it up

The service guys don't tighten it up as they get paid for every call out

Really so you know every service guy and the quality of their work ? If someone really had this attitude then word of mouth would put them out of business very quickly, you should be careful using such sweeping generalisations.
