Canon user myself but also have a general interest in new gear...
Apologies if this is already posted

Brings more and more point and shoot features to DSLR's - face detection, live view with AF working, very small size (not everyone will like, some will love).

They are also launching a really small f2.8 lens to go with it

That pancake lens seems really interesting (come on Nikon! :) )

But it is quite funny that the E-410 is smaller than the E-420 - I think it's a bit disingenuous of the marketing department to say that we've made a bigger camera but still call it the smallest dSLR.

That pancake lens is nice, but pity about the 2x crop factor! That makes the nice 25mm lens a 50mm lens.

Isn't 50mm the "standard" for 35mm photojournalistic purposes? The Sigma 30mm f1.4 is popular because it gives the same standard FOV on a DX body as on a 50mm on a FX one i.e. the one that most resembles human vision.

Nikon used to make the 50mm in pancake form. I'm sure you could pick one up second hand for a decent price.

I've seen that lens in camera shops here - I don't think it is an official pancake lens though?

There is a Nikkor 45mm AI-P which is a pancake (and silver!) but that costs a few hundred euro.

My modestly small 50mm f2 is fine for what I need it for (low light and good manual focus control).
