Am contemplating this, but holding decision off until I get as much facts as I can. Is the Bluetooth hands-free any good? Alternative models?

Useless in my experience. Save the EUR100, get a 250 and a bluetooth headset instead.

I have a Nuvi 760 and had major issues with the bluetooth handsfree. I could not be heard over the built in mic on the unit. I purchased an Garmin external mic on ebay (rtccomms, The Garmin store was out of stock) for £11.89 sterling. It plugs into the bracket and since then the handsfree works fine - no problems being heard and the mic is left in place when the unit is removed.
