That site seems poorly done really. Look at Finlands Per Capita and look at Englands then Look at Ireland.

I drink more than my fair share but seems strange.

I never knew that yer nose gets bigger cos of boozin'.
Will this 'appen to us? Whats that about?
I mean I can take liver and kidney failure but a big nose is just ri-goddamn-diculous!

    <sarcasm>yaaay</sarcasm>

I apreciate beer, I like it a lot in fact, as do most of us here, but that stastic should be alarming not pride inducing. I'm all for cultivating a gut while apreciating beer and good (see bad) food but this is a product of extreme binge drinking which is a massive problem for this country.

    Troll.

I wouldn't read too much into as it is a yank site and half of them really haven't a clue what they are talking about at the best of times. For example if you were to believe what was written in that piece then you would probably think that it is like St. Partrick's here every single day. Do they relaize that it costs €5 for a pint over here?

I think it is fair to say that Czech Rep drink more beer then Ireland and Russia drink more spirits then us so I wouldn't have us head and shoulders above everybody else. Plus England have those 24 hour open pubs so they must be swamping some about of booze over there!

    Nice to see this:
Don’t Miss: The Porterhouse -- Dublin’s first brewpub.

Looks like we made the right choice for beers this month! *hic* :p

actually the guiness book of records have us down as teh country that drinks the most alcohol per capita. Yes we neither drink the most beer or spirits but when all teh varying types of alcohol are combined we drink more then anyone else.

We also drink the most Tea per capita in the world as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,602 ✭✭✭ShayK1

I wonder who has the most Sex per capita? and is it realated to the amount of alcohol consumption per capita??

If you were sorry you would've removed it.....

Yeah okay, I'm not sorry, but I am feeling like maybe it wasn't the best thing to say, but the fact that it might amuse/offend some people makes me leave it up.

we produce cognac? Now thats just silly!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,172 ✭✭✭Don1

I believe cognac was invented by an Irishman living in France? Something like that........

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,602 ✭✭✭ShayK1

That would make a bit more sense

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

well was done at one stage by an irishman.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,602 ✭✭✭ShayK1

maybe, but by definition it would have to come out of France non?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,172 ✭✭✭Don1

Looked it up. Invented by a Dutchman. Henessey has an Irish connection then, or something! :p

I remember hearing that the two biggest drinking countries in Europe were Czech Republic followed by Belgium with Ireland way down the list so maybe its just a myth that we are the no.1 drinking country!

I think this was mentioned at the start of the link. It mentions something about binge drinking.

Surely that's purely based on condom sales...????
    How else would they know?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,172 ✭✭✭Don1

Condom sales plus other contraceptives, a blind stab in the dark and the amount of calls to crisis pregnancy agencies?

    Here ya go
    durex.com wrote:
    Introduction

More than 350,000 people from 41 countries
took part in the world's largest ever survey of
    sexual attitudes and behaviour.
The research confirmed France is now officially
the sexiest state with the French having sex 137
times a year - well above the global average of
103 - with Greece and Hungary coming a close
    second and third.
Europeans also win hands down in turning their
partners on. Topping the table are the British,
who spend 22.5 minutes on foreplay, followed
    by the Germans.
And, in many countries, foreplay is increasingly
likely to include such sexual enhancers as
    pornography, vibrators, pleasure enhancing
    condoms and lubricants.
The survey also reveals the average global age
for first sex is now 17.7 and the trend is towards
losing virginity earlier with today's 16-20 year
olds becoming sexually active by 16.5.
And while more than three in 10 believe the
state should invest in sex education to help
    prevent sexually transmitted infections, a
similar percentage acknowledge they have had
unprotected sex without knowing their partner's
    sexual history.
Finally, on a lighter note, Hollywood stars Brad
Pitt and Angelina Jolie top the sexiest celebrity
charts taking over from last year's winners -
English footballer David Beckham and American
    actress Jennifer Lopez.
