DownTownSounds is proud to present the debut Irish live appearance by cult French electronic artists Black Devil Disco Club. Black Devil aka Bernard Fevre and Jackie Giordano originally formed in the late 70’s and released a solitary LP of sinister, psychedelic disco music that recalled the likes of Joy Division and Giorgio Moroder more than it did the Bee Gees.

It’s juddering electronic rhythms presaged the house and techno revolution of the mid 80’s and the record became a much sought after rarity on the collector’s market. It won the hearts of the likes of Aphex Twin and Luke Vibert, who remixed ‘Timing, Forget The Timing’ for a series of re-issued 12 inches on Rephlex Records in 2004. Indeed, so auadacious and modern sounding were these 1978 recordings that rumours were rife that The Aphex Twin had recorded the music himself.

Since then, another LP, ’28 After’ has emerged, as well as a remix album called ‘Black Devil Dubs’, which featured dub versions of the original tracks as well as modern heroes like Prins Thomas and In Flagranti on remix duties. Black Devil have cemented their new found popularity with today’s dj’s and clubbers with high profile live shows for the likes of Fabric in London and Clone Records in Rotterdam, as well as a showstealing turn at Manchester's Futuresonic festivities.

They are set to rock Remake:Remodel with a little help from Dublin’s very own techno-disco whippersnapper Mano Le Tough. This young man’s first 12 inch release is forthcoming on Prins Thomas’ Intersasjonal label and he has already played support slots to the likes of Jape and has rocked some of Dublin’s finest clubnights, from Shock! to Electric City and our very own 52FUNK. Warming up for this live extravaganza will be DJ Mark Le Tough, who had people up on tables with his set upstairs at the Lindstrom and Prins Thomas extravaganza in December
