Backpacking with Kids

The plan is 2 weeks in July in London, Paris and Berlin with the kids (ages 9,7 and 5) by boat and train (returning by air from Berlin).

We have booked all our accommodation in apartments except for one night in London (we will need a hotel near St. Pancras station) and plan to book trains etc when these become available.

We need advice on family-friendly stuff in all three cities, fun for the kids but still interesting for adults etc. Also any tips of managing kids while backpacking would be appreciated.

Any advice appreciated (I have found travel guides very limited for families).

+1....... its becoming more and more popular on boards for people not to bother doing a quick google search before creating a thread. It only takes all of about 5 seconds to search in google!

I suppose if you can physically fit the sprogs in the rucksacks it'll be
    easy enough. ;)

The days of guide books is pretty much past, as already mentioned
google is your friend. Also consider checking fora for parents/parenting
related issues and ask other parents how they got on.

Thanks for the very obvious google suggestion etc. Naturally I have done this and much more internet research research besides.

While this yields plenty of options it tends to lack personal perspective. I would find personal advice and experiences to be much more useful. Any positive contributions to the thread would be appreciated.

there is a great museum in berlin (cant remember the name) but its the equivelent of the national history museum. It has a great exhibition on dinosaurs with interactive viewing of the skeletons, also has a solar system interactive show.

We really enjoyed it ( we're both 36) but it was full of kids having a ball!!!.

DK publishers have a top ten guide to berlin which has a feature on kids outings.
