Bandit forks

As I drive my '99 Bandit I notice while the wheel is driving straight, the column/ handlebars are turned off centre to the right by about 5 degrees. I presume a previous bash is responsible but is the column a solid unit or can it be straightened?

Sometimes the T piece can get bent in a smash or worse still the frame could be slightly misaligned.

This often happens in a slight spill and may mean no damage at all, just that the forks are slightly twisted in the yokes.

Loosen the wheel spindle and the yoke bolts, bounce the front end up and down a few times, check all is straight and tighten up again. If the fork tubes are actually bent, they can be straightened if it is only slight and they are not creased (I got Dennis in Ace Motorcycles, across from where Mountjoy used to be to do this for me a couple of years ago.)

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

Thanks guys. I had my fork seals done recently and they straightened a slight bend in one of the forks. The "T-piece", if that is what the yoke that holds the forks (http://cjquinn.com/bandit/forkdrop2.jpg), seems to be the bent bit if anything.
