Playstation 2 seems Slower than mates

I've been playing alot of Pro Evo 2008 and I've noticed my Slim Grey Playstation 2 doesnt seem to run the Pro Evo game as smoothly as my mates who's got the old bulky Black PS2 Console.

Now I tried the 50 hertz and 60 Hertz change over at the beginning of the game with the same results and I've also messed around with the various System settings on the Playstation 2 itself. I also know that if the TV's are different this cause the refresh rate to vary, but I'm also sure we have the same TV sets, So the only difference being the console type, Bulky V Slim.

So my question is why's my Pro Evo 2008 game running slower than my mates? I havent noticed this on any other game hence my confushion. Any ideas? Hope I've been clear.
