Forgive my ignorance on the topic but what is the name for the black film, almost like PVC tape, that you use to enclose wiring with to prevent water getting in etc..?

Is it called shrink wrap or something like that? Am looking to get some on Radionics or somewhere but dont know what to search under.

Anyone know what Im on about?

    Thanks

The tape of shrink wrap will only help prevent shorts. But they wont stop water penetration.

You may mean "heat shrink". This is great stuff once you do not have to open it again!! It comes in many colours and sizes. It is important to get the size right for best results.

There is a type (I used it for MV cable jointing) that has a glue inside it and it is water proof.

I normally refer to it as SELF VULCANISING TAPE (see example here:
    http://www.gandalf.nl/pdf/SVT.pdf )

It is good stuff, but will not
    prevent water getting in

Certain types of heat shrink will.
