I'm throwing around the idea with afew mates (3-6 depending on price) of a golfing trip for 3/4 days and am looking for advice on recommended places to go/ who to travel with/ where to stay etc.(We will all be travelling from Dublin)

Anybody had good experiences in spain/france/portugal etc. they'd like to share- and if so i was wondering if you had any advice..?
Also if anyone has prices for similar trips recently taken and who can recommended hotels or villas to rent it would be greatly appreciated too.

I'm aware that Golf courses and hotels greatly differ in prices depending on quality/location etc. so personal opinions are required please.!!

    Thanks in advance all,

    Hi Cosmo,

I've been on golfing trips to both France & Portugal, and I'm actually going to Spain in a few weeks aswell.

France - we were in the Lorient region, all the courses were excellent and are owned by a company calle Formula Golf, all courses were €35 to play are were fantastic. Lorient itself was quite enough though.

Portugal - is really good and prob the best for your first time trip. Vilamoura has it all with lots of courses, hotels, restaurants and nightlife. It's also easy to pick up good value flights to Faro.

I can give you more info if you like about courses & hotels. Let me know.

    Hi Marky,

Cheers for the reply,I was only talking to one of me mates last nite and he mentioned Vilamoura too. I'd be greatful for any recommendations you have regarding hotels.
If you have any rough prices per person for an overall package so i could give the lads a ballpark figure would be great..

    Thanks again,

    Cosmo.

    Cosmo,

If you were going for Vilamoura, I would suggest that you book it all your self, depending on the time of year you are going you can get great deals on the hotels, also green fees vary depending on the season. I am presuming you don't want to stay in really expensive hotels, so I would recommend the Dom Pedro Marina or Golf, or the Vila Gale Ampalius. Courses I would recommend The Old Course, Millennium, Pinhal. Other good ones are Victoria, Vila Sol, Laguna, and a bit further away Vale De Lobo & others.

If you can get a good deal on the flights, I think you can get the hotel, with B & B from €24 up to 40-50 p.p. sharing, obviously depends on time of year. Remember weather is good most of the year, I've been ther in May, November & December and had great golfing weather.

The course range from €45 'ish up with the old course costing you around 100 at busy times, but it's well worth playing.

If you prefer to do a package deal a good site is http://www.golfholidaysonline.com/packages.html

Any other info needed just ask.

    Marky,

Appreciate that much needed help, i priced flights in Sept for €140 so if i can get those hotels for a good rate it's a done deal..
We'll be trying 2 (possibly 3 courses) so i'll check the ones you've mentioned beforehand.

    Thanks again,

    Cosmo.
