    what's up with these? it seems to be some kind of projects where girls take pictures of themselves every day for a year. Is it that simple or am I missing something?

    I guess it's all down to the attention they get but then I could be missing something as well.

    As far as I know, the idea started off with this guy:

    http://www.everyday.noahkalina.com/

    He took a picture of himself everyday since 2000. It was quite interesting to see the changes over the years.

    Very good video put together: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6B26asyGKDo

    I'm as perplexed - is it an ego thing or what? Flickr is annoying me of late anyway. If I wasn't so lazy I'd move elsewhere...

    :D

    <generalisation>
    it's all 'here's me after just waking up, I feel so sick today' and it's a perfectly lit portrait, subject fully made up and looking beautiful. and then a load of false modesty when someone paraises them
    </generalisation>

    I found the video boring as hell to watch...website was much better, I can see the attraction of the project to a degree but its not that interesting,

    still if you want a project then why not :)

    The simpsons version is more interesting - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIRu6R79_JU

    It's not just girls ...

    I reckon it's an exhibitionism thing. Personally I wouldn't be interested in seeing me most of the time. Some of them are interesting though - Okaypro being one. She's an attractive (slightly) older woman who's got a sharp wit and sharper tongue, and she's intellectualised the 365 thing to a certain extent. Sh'es an exhibitionist sure, but she's also a great documenter of modern America.

    I'd never heard of them before you put up this post Paul.

    I think we're basically talking about your common or garden vain pr*cks here.

    Taking a landscape through 365 days would be interesting, your own face? not so much.

    I only take self portraits for 2 reasons:
    1. I need to have a profile picture for something (e.g. pix.ie) or 2 I want to try out a technique and have no willing volunteers.

    People who take and publish a picture of themselves every day for a year could only be described as vain tbh.
