compaq presario problems

    I have a Compaq Presario that wont recognise the cd drive or the mouse any more. I have reinstalled winxp and drivers without success. Any advise is much appreciated!!!

    Is it a USB mouse ? If so you will need to enable "USB Mouse" in the bios. As for the CD drive the ide cable might have come loose, or the power cable. But worth looking in the bios again to see if it is recognised there.

    If you managed to re-install Windows using a CD, then the fault lies with windows. CD/DVD-ROM drives don't require any special drivers, nor does a mouse in most cases (they may come with fancy software for extra buttons and whatever but it's not necessary).
