Birthday - Airsoft Day

    Hey All,

Basically my Bday is coming up and I'm trying to convince a couple of friends to try out airsoft (instead of the usual paintballing) as I'm interested in possibly becoming a regular player and was wondering if you guys could recommend a skirmish site for us to go to in late March (either of the bank holiday Saturdays more than likely) on the northside of Dublin.

I know alot of you play at HRTA and GTAC and am just looking for opinions on which would be best for a group of first time airsofters as these sites are both more or less the same for travelling distance from Swords/Malahide. Do both sites carry enough rentals (aegs and masks) and do enough people turn up to have a good game?

Probably talking a group of 10 (this will vary depending on my powers of persuasiveness and ability to overcome the inate irish obstinacy to try something different).

Thanks in advance for any advice/guidance you can offer this noob.

    JD

HRTA is the only site on the northside of dublin, G-TAC is in galway, so that really eliminates your choice :)

Drogheda is the only other site within range of Dublin at the moment until others start opening up.

HRTA will have enough rentals, but you will want to ring and book them a week or two in advance to be sure, on any given saturday, there's at least 20 people or more there, on a sunday, the numbers are slightly less, normally around 10 (if any) as far as i know

I think you might mean Drogheda instead of G-tac. G-tac is close to Portumna in Galway. Both sites cater for rentals, although, you will need to contact either, you can find details on this board, as I'm not sure how many rentals they have. Try and give them as much notice as you can.

Both sites are pretty good for varying reasons. HRTA is more open is designed for more urban style skirmishing. Drogheda is an old quarry with varying terrain.

Drogheda has smaller numbers and uber cover so it may be easier for new players. I dunno about rental numbers though. Also, if i was bringing a load of mates I'd wanna be shooting them and not some strangers:p

The price is definitely a big positive alot more shooting for your money. Paying for paintball ammo always reminds me of that Chris Rock joke about charging a thousand dollars for a bullet - at those prices you'd want to have a damn good reason to shoot someone :D.

Not just about shooting mates Lethal, also a chance to check out the community as I am very interested in taking it up regularly - trying to figure out a way to hide the credit card bill from the other half first though

I did a similar thing as a Christmas present for my brothers. I found it easiest to just drop Paul an email with approx numbers and then let anyone else who was interested in going along drop Paul a seperate email when they have made their mind up that they are going.

I'd advise making sure someone has a sat nav or is certain where you are going as its hard to describe directions to someone if they get lost!
