Boardeaux - Season 4

    Hey everyone :)

So, Boardeaux have just come to the end of our THIRD season.

We finished 4th of 10 teams, which represents some decent progress.

In our first season (Winter 06/07) we finished 9th.
In our second season (Summer 07) we finished 7th.
In our third season (Winter 07/08) we finished 4th.

Our FOURTH season kicks off on April 8th, and we'll be playing games on Tuesday evenings, in two locations on the South Side of Dublin. It will run for ~20 weeks, until early October, or thereabouts.

We have some real quality in the side at the moment, but I'd like to add some more for the new season, to maybe push on and win the division. :)

So, if you think you can bring something to the team, drop me a PM, or post in the team forum, we are trying to arrange some friendlies for the "close season", so I can have a look at new players.

    Cheers

    Des

    The Gyaffer:)

    Nope.

We did have a fan in our first season, but he disappeared.

Obviously a glory hunter, he left when the results got bad.

Anyway, when are your lot playing us? The challenge match?

    Running scared. Hmmmm?

Er...I'm not looking for fans, I'm looking for players.

    But to answer your questions.

    No.

    And, no.

We have the best 'keeper in the league, and two other of my players are pretty good in nets too, so we covered there.

Could do with probably another Centre Half, and a left back.

Middle of midfield is well covered, and I have four pacey wingers, but there's always room for improvement. I'd like a couple of box-to-box midfielders, but hey, can't ahve everythimg.

Would like a striker who guarantees a goal a game.

Obviously I'm not available but just wanna say congratulations Des (and the lads) on another good season. Great to see the team thriving and consistently improving. The first trophy won't be far off.

    It isn't :)

We started up in Aug '06, but didn't enter a league until the late Oct / Early Nov, which went to March '07, then the next season was April to Sept/Oct, then the latest was Oct to March. :)

Ten teams, so with Xmas breaks, and weeks off etc seasons are usually in and around 22-24 weeks in length.

You hit the post twice last night dude.

    Twice.

Actally, you scored ten goals this season, I only just realised. How many games did you miss? 3?

That's ten goals in 15 games, and at the beginning you were in the midfield, right? Pretty good actually.:D

I'd like another striker who gets that kind of return. Is what I meant.

I'd sign up but I know I would never get picked as a result of our difference of opinions over premier/eircom league! baha

Believe me, as soon as I get back to those dark and dreary shores I'll be wanting to sign back up.

    Aye, he is. :)

If you know him, why don't you come out to watch a game sometime in the Summer?

Well the thing that has stopped me in the past has been the fact that I was working full time monday-friday and I lived miles away from the games. I'm back in college now and living at home (near Simon) so I might try grab a lift with him down to training. I'm off college for good in May as well so it would suit.

I havent played 11 a side in years. I play 5 a side most Sundays though.

I'd take that, I don't usually read FourFourTwo, but I suppose I could start if you want a game that badly.:D

to be honest, i think des was well aware where he was posting and just is extending the welcome to the whole soccer forum as this is the forum team after all. would be good to have a new face or 2 and get to know the people that we argue with now and then on ere!even liverpool fans are welcome, we have 2 or 3 already. they are decent lads.

Wow can't believe it's in its fourth year already. I've always really wanted to be a part, but geography wins this battle.

Still, good luck to all for the new season!

read original post on the thread.

there is no set leagues, u enter any league in dublin, taking into account what night u want to play and location. south side is where we play on tuesdays, so that normally sees us in group/division 9.this year, the gap between the top 4 and the rest was quite big. we blew it towards the end of the season, loosing 4 out of last 6, after winning the 5 games before that.
