Do you think it has improved in the last year of so
What do you think of the prices

I think some days you can get ok dinners & more days its crap - bit on the expensive side too

I had dinner in there one time & I had potatoes veg & parsley sauce, the sauce was SOLID

It can be hit or miss, sometimes it's good, other times it's bad.

Usually it's bad  plus they reheat everything until it looks atrocious, like cheese on lasagne that ends up resembling lard

The food in kevin street is generally reasonable, it's just the "dinners" can be dodgy sometimes. I got a "roast beef" dinner there the other day and it was a bit crap tbh:(. The food does appear to be reheated most of the time.

When I was in Aungier St, the food was fairly sh1te TBH. I doubt it has changed.

I cant really argue with the prices, I get 2 big sausages and soup for like 2.10/2.40. Thats fairly decent.

As for quality - well, its ok food in general. If its a long day, I'd rather have something bulky and warm inside me* rather than something that adheres to Mr Atkins, Mr Quinn, Curves, GI or whatever crap people constrict themselves to, for twice or thrice the price!

Service is pretty fast here in Kevin Street, and you dont have to walk far for a seat.

I give it the thumbs up, above other canteens I've had to eat in over the years!

    * = except for cocks, ya know.

aungier street - their chips > kevin street.

take their chips into the frame and it's

    aungier street < kevin street.

    The rumours are true!!!

The food is amazing for two reasons

    1. Our canteen is not run by Campbell Catering, its run by the DIT themselves.

    2. Because of the Culinary Arts courses that are run in DIT, all the food that is bought in for the classes is tax free, so they buy double and use it in the canteen aswell! So top notch food at low low prices.

As well as the canteen we have the two Silver Service student restaurants! 3 course meal for less than a tenner!!!

You should come up for dinner some time! Its quite tasty!

Whoever said the food in Kevin street is good must be mad! Curry sauce is watered down to nothing and then thickened with cornflour seemingly, absolutely disgusting! The soup tastes like, and im pretty sure it is, Knorr packet soup. The mashed potatoes are lumpy and the meat is certainly nothing to write home about! On the plus side, breakfast is pretty good although a bit greasy and the prices on the wall are NOT the prices you're charged at the counter.

Aungier Street Curry chips are just yum! The soup is very hit and miss but at 2 euro with a roll and soup, its not bad. I think its funny that theyve put up a poster sating theres no added salt or fat...the soup has a layer of oil on the top and is pretty salty! The dinners are over 5 euro and are def not worth it. Any dinners ive ever had were under or overcooked and portions are pretty measley-dont even bother askin for a little more! the filthy looks and pathetic bit extra they give you just makes it not even worth wasting your breath. some of the staff could do with better english too.

Overall, bring your own ftw! ;)

Avoid the pizza I'd say... I made the rookie mistake of going for it today. Oh, it looked so very good, sitting there all illuminated, but once I got it on my plate I found it all dry and cardboardtastic. Ick.

iv stopped eating in the aungier st canteen months ago. its gone from bad to worse. everything is doused in salt. and i know of two people who got food poisoning the same day when they had the chicken soup from the canteen.
the sandwich bar downstairs is decent though.

You can say that again brother.Especially the part on them giving scabby, measley portions. You want more veg and it becomes tiresome.Ask for gravy and you'll get a splash.Their food isn't bad but it isn't great either.Cheapest hot meal you can get is 2 sausages and 2 veg at 4.10.

The catering ass. serving the food must think there is a war going on.I suppose you could hardly blame them either though due to the fact that the catering company has strategically ordered in small plates and if you want more you get v little extra while the food is nearly falling off the plate. Its either that or you'd have to get another plate and another plate means another portion and thats extra.I stopped eating breakfast there whenever I leave the house on an empty stomach.Go to Sofias across the road.Their 5 euro student breakfast is really nice and you get a fry and a big pot of tea.

The staff/owner in Sofias is bang on.Thats why if I ever have breakfast near college,I go there.

Ah stop complaining! Depends on the food you order. Kevin St has some real dodgy stuff like burgers in brown water(gravy?):D:eek:

But theres some good stuff as well, the fish ain't bad and the chips there are a load better than in aungier st. But for the price you really can't complain, especially at breakfast.

I had lasagne in kevin st canteen before and I have to admit, it didn't taste remotely like it :D, The food in DIT is hugely overpriced and thankfully there are other places you can go instead :)

I disagree. If it was any cheaper, it would be free, especially the fry-ups.

i have never eaten in kevin street but i agree with all the above, aungier street is not very good. good for me because i go to bolton street and the food is great, way better then the others especially mountjoy.
i think it is down to the country lads in bolton street, they eat good meals and they eat a lot of them.
