Mains Water Connection

    Does anyone know how much Mayo County Council charge for connection to the mains water ? We have to meet them in Swinford on Friday and just wanted an idea of cost in advance, I assume they will want a cheque then

    The mains will have to cross a narrow road.

    First of all, is it a county council water main or a group water main? Groups vairy with their conection fees, county councils will have fixed charges which you can obtain by calling the water department in Mayo county council and making a general enquiry on 094)902 44 44.

    As for crossing the road, you will have to get a road opening licence which can cost up to €200 and take a number of days to get. Might I recommend boring under the road using a hydraulic mole which will eliminate the need to dig the road and the existance of a bump there after you dig and refill it. Most good tool hire centres will be able to do this boreing for you at a cost of approx €250.
