Just caught the last few minutes of this on RTE. From what I saw of the of the show. Basically a recruitment specialist Lisa Holt (MD of CPL Ireland) meets with ordinary members of the public and helps them to find a new carrer. By giving them indept pesonlised carrer advice, teaching them interview techniques, etc, etc.
The partipant in the first show after being turned down for a pharmacutical sales role decides she wants to make a move in to recruitment.

In the end she is hired by a medically recruitment company. The company is not named in the episode.

But the company is in fact Medical Recruitment Specialists (I know this because I googled the partipants name and the word recruitment). Now it turns out that Medical Recruitment Specialists is just a division of CPL.

The fact that she was hired by the company that the presenter of the show runs, and the fact that this wasnt mentioned on the show I found a little misleading and dishonest.

If she was just going to give the participent a job working for her. Whats the point of the show ?

Bit of a waste of the licence fee really.

When I heard about it I thought it was a good idea because there are probably alot of people, including myself, toying with the idea of changing careers and find it hard to get advice etc. on it.
But the programme had no real substance I thought, and was just the usual "entertainment" more focused on the person than on giving the viewers any worthwhile information on finding a new career(other than "what do you like doing?!"). Maybe I was expecting too much from it...

    Anyone watch this weeks episode?
I missed parts of it but from what I could gather it was a Polish girl with an Hons Degree in Social Studies from Poland who was working in a supermarket over here. Worked her way up from canteen cleaner to store management but wanted to work in Social Care.

She was Dublin based, earned €34k iirc, was renting a house with boyfriend and sister, had a car and had already bought a house in Poland.

She didnt seem to happy that places were looking for people with previous work experience in the industry so in the end she took a job in the bank and decided to do voulntary work with the Simon Community.

Recruiter wasnt overly happy with her seemin lack of enthusim when she recommend getting info on vounltary work to build up her experience.

I seen it. In this episode the recruitment specialist eventually locates what sounds like an entry-level position in the bank for the Polish girl and puts her forward for interview. I thought it's not even what the girl wanted?!
But surprise, surprise she gets the job.
The show seems pointless, as someone else says it has no substance.

Yeah, I wasnt sure if it was entry level or not. Missed that part, but seemed
surprising as she had picked out a entry level clerical officer job somewhere
that the recruiter seemed ot frown at!
