Americana/Bluegrass/Blues in Galway, Anyone?

    Hiya -

I am a gigging singer/songwriter - and I live in Galway City:-) Musically, I tend to write and sing in a lot of different styles - but generally, think a rock/pop/world meld, with a little soul & jazz thrown in for good measure. I love Americana and Trad, and obviously can do covers. :-)

My voice is smoky and full, more of a Joan Osbourne or a K.T. Tunstall voice than a Be Good Tanyas voice style (less small and sweet, more "oomph!") And I can be LOUD when needed. My training is in vocal jazz (think Ella Fitzgerald) - but I am not stuck in jazz at all. I have been involved in many projects - from jazz to punk to rock to a one-off Led Zepp tribute extravaganza! (fun!)

If you live here (in Galway City) too or have been here over the past few months, you've probably seen & heard me busking (the redheaded woman with the big voice). I make my living solely from performance and composition - and I want to form/join a band. Soon. I have my voice, and a guitar, and as soon as I see some interest, I will book a rehearsal space. I also have gear for demo recording (an m-audio/very good mic/garageband set up). I am also preparing for a studio project in the very near future.

Something I have noted: Americana/Bluegrass and Blues gets gigs. Paying gigs. I can sing it very well, and I love to do so. I also write new songs in Americana/Old Timey/Blues/Bluegrass style. What would complement this is some fiddle or mandolin, bouzouki, bass or upright bass, lead guitar, pipes, harmonica, dobro, banjo, washboard, or percussion, etc.
If you play any of these instruments - or more that I haven't thought of - and if you are in Galway/willing to travel here to rehearse, and are interested (really!) - in forming an Americana/Bluegrass/Blues band, OR if you already have a band and need an accomplished/standout singer - please post here, or PM me.

You can hear a little of my music on my myspace - http://www.myspace.com/niceolblue
(Originals, and mostly acoustic pop/folk - but you'll hopefully get an idea of my voice)

    Thanks!

    - Niceol Blue

    Hi Niceol,

    my name is Bjoern

    I'm a clarinet/saxophone player from Cologne,Germany, just

arrived about 2 months ago here in Galway City. I listened to your

music on myspace and I think that you have a really

great voice & songwriting. Liked it very much.

    I know that the clarinet/saxophone aren't traditional bluegrass/

americana instruments but I think especially the clarinet would

    fit nicely to your style.

So if you liked just to try out whether the clarinet would suit your

music or not, you can give me a call/text: 087 6117828 and we could

    arrange to jam together

I would be delighted to hear from you :)

    kindest regards, Bjoern

    Hiya, Bjoern

Do you play jazz standards? If you do, and we get a jazz guitarist or pianist, we could have a fairly instant trio - I am, as I said, a trained jazz singer as well as a singer/songwriter, & I'd be really happy taking on a side project of jazz that would potentially be a money-spinner by getting us gigs! Let me know if you are interested!

    Thanks!

    Hi Niceol
My name is Pat. I'm an experienced drummer who has played every concievable style of music and I'm looking for a new project as my pub/covers band aren't playing as often as I'd like.
I listened to your tracks on MySpace and you have an impressive talent and some nice songs to boot.
I don't know if you were looking for a drummer per se but I think your guitar/vox paired with a rhythm section of bass guitar and drums would work....maybe a keyboard/piano or lead guitar too
Anyway, I'm not a beginner, been playin for about 16 years and I'm quite dedicated. I'm currently playin with a rock covers band but like I said, need more gig time. Have a good bit of studio experience too.
I've got my own transport and gear.
Sure have a think about it and get back to me if you're interested and we'll organise something

    Cheers
    Pat

    Hi Niceol,

sure we could play jazz standards as well. I'll just check

with my friends if they know a good jazz guitarist or pianist.

Or do you know anybody? I'll get back to you as quick

    as possible.

    Cheers Bjoern

Comto open mic at Cellar Bar tonight, you might find like-minded folk there, or Fergal and Jamie will know some people that might be interested, they know pretty much all the Galway musicians.

Still looking for any musicians that want to play - I am serious, are you?

Alt-country, Blues, Roots, Old-Timey, Americana, Trad-Fusion, Acoustic-rock with some new songs in an old vein. I know you are out there in Galway! Looking to get the band together before a big gig at the end of the month! Please reply or drop me a PM if you are interested!
