the place is flooded with the same guy pulling off a scam.

look at all these bikes for under e500, new they are all worth well over a grand, and the background of the pics is clearly a american house:D:D

    buyer beware

Which ad are you talking about?

    This one? http://www.gumtree.ie/dublin/48/20899248.html

He's gone to all the trouble of lifting the photos and descriptions off the internet but I can't figure out how the scam is going to work. Surely people would expect to see the bikes before handing over any money. It would nearly be worth replying just to find out. Maybe he's just trying to make friends.

Nearly all the bike ads are from the same person "tunoitns@gmail.com". And they're all spurious. I've emailed him though - maybe I'll get a great deal on that Giant Trance ;).

I imagine he is going to want payment in advance and then he'll "ship" the bikes from wherever he is. Except- he won't!

Get in touch and start bargaining him down. Hmm, €400 is a bit too rich for me for a full carbon bike with Ultegra- would you take €300?

"hy,right now i'm out of country.if you want to buy it i needd your full name and address for inregistration and after that gumtree will send you an invoice with all steps of this deal, thanks"

Looks like an identity-theft attempt - trying to get personal details from people.

i have seen ads like that on Craiglist as well. All time the seller is out of the country on "vacation" or honeymoon etc.

Jesus, you would think they would have learned to avoid "scam-speak" by now. I strongly suspect extraction of money would be involved too, not just identity theft.

Report him to Gumtree - there is a link on the bottom right of each ad.

Only one person needs to fall for it for him to make money. Just one person in all of the internetz.
