Black screen when playing AVIs through USB

I have been having trouble lately playing avis on the 360 through the USB port.
It worked with no troubles for a good while and then suddenly stopped working.

When I try to watch avis from a USB source (even files that used to work) I just get a black screen with audio.

This happens with external drives and USB flash drives (formatted to FAT32)

Has this happeden to anyone else? I searched for it but came up with nothing.

    Cheers

    Presume you downloaded the codec?

If not, did your xbox die and you kept the harddrive and arent connected to live at the moment?

    That would do it either!

    Cheers for the replies

Its weird, the AVIs worked fine when the update came out but now, even videos that used to play no longer play.

Videos work fine when played from a DVD or CD but they dont work through the USB ports.
Everything else works fine through USB (Wireless adapter, Scene It receiver and HDDVD player)

its wrecking my head, i hate having to watch videos on the TV through my laptop.
