    Could a 105 5510 left shifter be used in place of a 5600 shifter, i.e. can a 105 5510 shifter be used on a 5600 front derailleur?
Left on is knackered from a fall and the 5510 is about half the price.

I'd say so. Front mechs are way less finicky than rear.

I have 1998 Record shifters on one bike with a new Sora front mech. Looks weird, but works no problem.
