Has anyone else seen this film, and if so, had you any idea as to what the film was about before viewing? I watched it after it had been pegged to me as a Sci-Fi film, so understandably until the very last second I was just confused and going the wrong way about interpreting what was happening.

Very strange film and even more so, a very unusual role for Ryan Reynolds. Wouldn't say it was a bad film, some parts of it were strangely compelling, though to be honest the time invested in watching it felt a small bit wasted afterwards.

I caught it recently too and I found it very good, I was really interested to see where it was going.
But the end was such a crappy write off that left a bitter taste in my mouth.

If I had to label it, I would call it a bad attempt at a David Lynch style movie.
Good performances and a gripping 'plot' but with a terrible ending.

I got this movies few days ago, but now I'm not sure if I want to spend 90 minutes of my life watching it. Is it worth?

I quite liked it I have to say, it's not astonishing, but is it very watchable and Ryan Reynolds is good value.

Watched it recently, it didn't push any buttons. File under never watch again! (imo)

    Yeah, watched it recently.

I enjoyed the structure and performances, but it was all a bit un-even and the ending (and obligatory Snow Patrol song) just seemed tacked on out of nowhere.

Worth 90 minutes, watchable enough but nothing lifechanging either.

I'll give a try, just to check if Ryan Reynolds can pull off a drama performance.

Warched this film at the weekend. Just picked it and watched it without reading the back. Just wanted to watch any film to be honest.

Anyway it was strange. Felt Donnie Darko meets Identity meets Momento in my mind. Anyway the 1st 2 stories I enjoyed and were layed out well and I liked where it was going.

The 3rd story was a let down as if they couldn't figure out how to finish the story with a big bang or let it fizzle out.

Also made me think Ryan Reyonlds aint a bad actor either.

seen this movie last night... don't really know what to say on it. I seen an ad for it on the telly that said it was a
"cross between Donnie Darko and the Matrix"
... sure maybe it is... sorta.

It just didn't push the right buttons and I ended up not really caring about the plot after the first story was told. I guess the synopsis from the ad for it ruined the movie as I pretty much knew what to expect.

It reminded me a lot of a Japanese Anime series I watched recently called "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya". Although I liked that a lot more than this movie.
I lol'd at the end when you see those flying diamonds in the sky, I thought they where going to place them on top of the humans heads to show it was all just one big game of the Sims

I think it was the cast that saved this movie.

Agreed, both Ryan Reynolds and Melissa McCarthy were very good.

Yeah, it had so much potential for a disaster.

Thought it was shocking to be honest.
    Pointless boring and unengaging overall.
90 mins of my life that i want back

Watched this this evening and thought it was interesting, but ultimately not particularly memorable. I like the ideas behind it:
the main metaphor can be interpreted in multiple ways, and it at least does something unique
. But I thought the whole thing seemed a bit off in tone - seemed kind of cartoony and cheap, kind of like the (inferior) Butterfly Effect. Really didn't like the performances either - especially McCarthy in the first act.

Really did like the second part of the film ('Reality Television') which is far stronger than the other two, and the commentary on virtual worlds was cool. Yet I don't think the director had enough faith in the audience, and the whole affair seemed a bit silly and over-explanatory. Think it was trying to aim for the subtlety of Donnie Darko and Primer (both films that I think take multiple watches to fully absorb) but failed, and is a pale shadow of those two films, which did the whole crazy, complex narrative with more confidence. Not a bad evenings entertainment, and it is definitely unique and imaginative, but I can't help but think it was a good idea let down by some dodgy execution.

Watched this at the weekend. I really enjoyed watching it, although I got where it was going during the second part.

I don't think I'd watch it again but I did enjoy it and the performances were excellent.
