Does anyone know where I can pick up a rain cover for a body and 300mm prime anywhere in Dublin? Just tried ringing Berminghams and Conns but none have anything I'm looking for.

I'm guessing this isn't big enough for a 300mm prime... (nor is it located in Dublin) but they are safe to buy from (takes a long time though)

Not bad but I have a match on Friday in Wexford. Being in Dublin tomorrow to photograph a gig I might try out a few shops and see what they have/if they have anything. That item will be something I'm gonna splash some of my Paypal funds on anyhow :)

Ken I use microfibre towels that you can get in millets (camping shop) they work out excellent and can absorb huge amounts of water and only cost €20

I use a pair of O'Neills xxl wet bottoms, elasticated legs fit over lens and I have cut them near top of leg.

    That Aquatech gear ain't cheap.

    (70-200mm including eye piece)

    €128.87 for Lighter Sports Model
    €303.71 for Pro Model.

It's all about the quality. Ordered an Aquatech cover and managed to get a Tenba cover too.

Sisters husband heading over to NY next week. He is heading to B&H anyway so will get him to pickup an aquatech.

Would this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/500377-REG/Aqua_Tech_SS_SPORT_SS_SPORT_Rain_Cover_Navy_.html do the job?

Also the eye piece: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/500383-REG/Aqua_Tech_CNEP_5_CNEP_5_Eyepiece.html ??

    Thanks

Read the item description to see if it will fit the camera and lens you own.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 708 ✭✭✭OnLooker

They do. I was just looking for opinions in case anyone previously owned the items. Thanks anyway

You get what you pay for with AquaTech.
It's a small investment to protect your gear.
    I've used the same eyepiece for 400D & 40D.

If I never have to use it once, that'd be fine with me!

Well, both lens and body should be protected, because only protection makes the complete useful!

What lens is that? 4/500mm prime?

Blasted match called off tonight, due to the rain that's on its way!! Not a sign of it yet.

Got my Aquatech cover at the weekend. Very happy with it. Brother in law brought it home from B&H.

Same from Barkers in Cork cost me almost €130!! Only 'fault' I've noticed with it, is that you have to attach the monopod* to the camera, there is no opening to attach it to the lens collar.

Yeah I noticed that on Sunday at the match but still happy I invested becuase there is no point in spending alot of money on gear if its not protected from the elements.

    Hmm.

I'd want the SS300 model. That's listed as $209 on the B&H website.

Not sure the sport would be what I need.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 708 ✭✭✭OnLooker

City-Exile should be able to confirm that for you.

Just sent him a text for info, and also sent an email to Barker Photography to ask their price. :)

With the $ exchange rate, it might work out cheaper importing.

    Ok ....

    From B&H
    ss300 $209
    CEP-1B eyepiece $32
    Shipping $40.65

    Total of $ 281.65 (roughly €179)

    From Barker in Cork
    SS300 216.59
    CEP-1B eyepiece - €38.72
    Shipping €7.26

    Total of €262.57

So, I can save €80 by ordering in the US.

    Now for decision time.

You could get a SS-SPORT from B&H for your 70-200mm with the money you are saving.
