Does anyone on the board know when the latest issue of Irish Fighter is out? I heard that it was meant to be out last week but haven't seen it in Easons.

Any idea what's in this month's issue?

    Cheers

Cheers - thought it should be out this week.

Paddy - tell me more about the ad. What's it advertising and what's so funny about it? One-inch punch? Streetfighter-style energy blasts? You have me curious now! :D

tis not slagging off any arts at all it just happens to be a tkd club.... but its nothing to do witht he art... the pic has a lad doing a hand stand with the splits and 2 people either side of him and 2 behind him with tiger claw type hands... I just thought it was the maddest looking ad ever :)

again i will stress nothing to do with the art..

his head's bigger than his torso

how i long for those days again john :) maybe one day i'll do a rocky 6 on it :)

I know that pic!!! It's been in a couple of previous issues. It's almost as if the message is "Join our club and you too can learn how to do a handstand" :D

to me it says "we have fun at our club"

but it does look a bit silly :D then that is what they intended i'm sure ;)

It's out, I got it this evening.
It's got an advert in it for the Irish Taekwon-Do Federation-Ireland, I thought such names only existed in the world of dodgeball! :D

Of course Tim thats a mistake, meant to be International, not Irish. As in ITF Ireland.
In fact the mag is riddles with errors and typo's this month.

Aha! ;) It's funnier the other way though. :)

    lol.

Interesting article by yourself Jon, some interesting thoughts, even if I'm not sure if all of it made sense.

Thanks Tim. Some of it was edited and I agree parts of it don't run smoothly as bits were taken out. I think Marks article suffered the same as editing made small parts a bit confusing.
I see you still have your 3rd dan belt ;)

It's still a weight on my shoulders apparently. :) That was actually Mark's belt but I'm planning to bust out my own one at a TKD competition at the end of the month. That is if I can find it of course. Have to try and find my nice ITF suit too. :)

LOL, old school debate brewing... :)

I would doubt that TKD style sparring is "still most popular 'test' of martial arts fighting ability", maybe you are talking about points sparring? They are quite different in their own way. Both are probably about as useful on THE STREET of course but that's neither here nor there. Anyway what street fighter wouldn't be impressed by my spinning kick skills? Answer me that! :)

    Me.

Anyway I saw that ad Paddy was on about for the TKD club and yes, it's gas. It's actually a step up from the one that was there before which just had 3 people in it. This one has 5 people in it doing various TKD poses. I dig it, its funny, and based on their faces, they know it's funny.

What they didn't consider is the pressure is on now to come up with a new ad for the next issue, more spectacular than this one.

They need two people doing flying side kicks on either side (shirtless, holding nunchucks), one below (shirtless again, but with a huge tattoo of an eagle wearing a leather jacket riding on a screaming, flaming skull on his chest) in an impressive deep-stanced pose wearing a grimace of concentration (with tiger-claw hands), all set against a portrait of General Choi with an eyepatch and a dagger in his mouth, snapping one ninja's neck while side-kicking another in the throat, while riding a harley.

    I'd join!

A unicorn would be even better........

This TKD club is fast attaining legendary status. We should all head down there together one night for a trial class!

The few times I competed in points it was most fun doing it against guys who thought they were bad ass. Strutting onto the mat chests out. :D
