Seen a lot of post around complaining about the above, but are they really that bad??
Only reason Im asking is cos I can get Digital TV,Broadband(3mb) and Phone for 60 euros pm from them now that theyve upgraded the cables in my area.

Currently have Sky--6 pack deal(I think) @ €45.00 pm (no movies or sports but with one multiroom box) and Eircoms talktime anytime at €45.00 pm aswell.

Thats a saving of 30 euros pm to change to NTL.

Seriuously considering changing but if theyre really that sh1t I`ll stick with what I have :)

Opinions please from anyone in the Maynooth area.

    Thanks

    Richie.

    Hey Hellrazer,

Think it depends on who you talk to! I know friends of mine who have been getting digital tv and broadband from ntl for a few years now with no major problems......

Can you tell me what area in Maynooth your living as when I rang them 2 months ago they told me analogue was all that was available for me!

They haven't finished the upgrade of all of Maynooth yet kco3d shouldn't be too long before they do from what I'm told. Some of it is still analogue only.

Usually the people who have problems with NTL/Chorus/UPC are on very old networks. The cable are usually about 30 years old and like most old things it will give problems. But if your on a new system and its VOIP enabled(always a good sign not all 2 way networks are VOIP certified) your on to a good thing and you shouldn't have any problems.

If its the old NTL line I would stay away from it.

If I moved back to my parents house which is 10 mins away I would not touch them with a barge pole. They have nothing but problems.

But I moved into a new estate and I have only had 2-3 problems in 2.5 years with them. The problem was to do with the broadband mainly the other problem I had was with getting a new box for the tv as the other one died.

Can I suggest you get your Internet and TV from different companies. Imagine your internet going down and you go to watch TV instead and thats off too? If it happened to me I would be on valium before the end of the evening.

I have NTL(currently down) for TV and Smart(never had a problem) for Internet. I spend 24 yoyo's for the NTL and about 40 for Smart.

kc03d--Im in Maynooth park--they just upgraded the cable there 3 months back.

Syklops--Good idea--would be a pain if everything went down together.

I been with NTL for a few years now for Internet and TV, no mayor problems, I will say in the last 5 years is been down about 10 times in most cases is always fix within a couple of hours as it was a general fault, but you can see some posts of single users having to wait a few days to get a tech in to replace modem or check cable.

We never had cases when Internet and TV went down at the same time (except once a car crashed into the connection box at the end of the road it was on a Saturday night so was down for everyone on the road and back working I think Monday mid morning)

I'm in Old Bawn road so other users in other areas might have other problems.
