Does anyone know who I could get to remove an old television aerial? It is fairly high up on the second floor of my house and I don't have a ladder that tall. Wicklow or South Dublin.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

I'm in the same boat (only north of the city). I moved into my house 6 years ago and at that time the aerial was already on the roof attached to my chimney but not connected into the house or my next door neighbours house either so I believe this was something old owners had difficulty getting someone to remove it.

With all of the storms lately though, it appears to be unstable so I'm trying to get it off now before someone gets injured. I've called a few aerial installers locally but they only do installations - not removals.

Did you manage to get someone for your job?

    Thanks,

No I haven't had any luck with this and kind of gave up to be honest with you. I am hoping that as satellite dishes become more popular, maybe more people will start an Aerlia removal business. Mine is stable and secure, just ugly and rusting and serves no purpose. If I do manage to hear from someone, I will definately let you know!

Thanks so much for the info. The first roofer I called had no problem doing the work and will be out to me today/tomorrow.

    The guy I'm using is Atlas Roofing & Gutteringicon_phone.gif 1890 941082

wow - the aerial installation industry must be booming at the moment if they can afford to turn down easy work like this...

I know what you mean. I called three companies on Friday - two definitely don't remove them and couldn't tell me who to contact for a job like that. One of them went to voicemail and never called back! I honestly thought it was something they'd all do!!

I got the aerial removed for €180 - I'm not sure if thats the going rate but it might give anyone else looking for a similar job done an idea of the price.

Thanks for the pointer dolanbaker :)

I hope he took it away and disposed of it for that. €180 is a bit rich for putting up ladders, cutting lashing wire, carrying aerial down, putting ladders away. About 20 mins work. I would have charged €80 for that, but I'm way beyond the pale. You Dubs must have money to burn.

To be honest as a single woman living alone I'm used to handy men telling me that it's a "big job". This time my roof was "a bit steep"!

At least they took away the aerial - let's just hope they're not going to sell it on to some poor unfortunate.
