Getting initial quotes back on a house build. Some contractors have quotes for red deal doors and joinery throughout while another has included oak laminate doors and joinery throughout.

Anybody have an opinion on either, and which is better?

what timber for door frames, architraves, door stops, window sills and skirting are speced for the oak laminate quote?

what finish are u, or herself after, painteted, varnished, etc?

I prefer panelled doors, be they pine , red deal or beech (mega $$$)

Its kind of tricky, red deal is general the standard entry level solid door.
Oak laminate could be a range of doors better or worse than the red deal. Example might be a solid softwood door with an oak veneer. These can be paneled and of decent quaility.
It could also be a semi-solid core flush door with oak laminate on top, a red deal panel door is better.

suggest you ask both to remove spec and indicate € spend "allowance" on doors

then visit showrooms , pick doors you want - adjust cost accordingly then
