Car rental in Ireland

Does anyone have any experience of renting a car in Belfast and dropping it off in the Republic (Cork airport) ?

I've checked with Eurocar and Avis and there seems to be a €150 one-way drop off fee which seems very excessive in my opinion.

Is it because I want to hire the car in one country and drop it off in another?

And it probably covers the expense of transporting the car back to the north.

    Thanks.

Hmmm... within the Republic you'll pay a €25 one-way ee and I very much doubt that the car is driven back to the original station. It's just rented out where it's dropped off. I guess that can't do that in Cork with a car regged in the North.

I'll just get a train down from Belfast to somewhere and get the car in the South.
