    As Karoma says, also...

It's membership to a fairly exclusive senior management club. People with MBA's earn a lot of money and have high powered jobs.

It's important you do an MBA in a recognised college.

I bet there are loads of people out there with a MBA who dont have a as you say a high powered job, All depends on the person, Like Doctors who, may be highly qualified, have the bedside manner of a plank. Depends on you. My tuppence worth anyway !!:D

An MBA in Smurfit will cost you around €27K to do the course + another €3/4K in terms of books + Such.
It's membership to a fairly exclusive senior management club. People with MBA's earn a lot of money and have high powered jobs.

People who go for MBAs usually have a good job to begin with, alot of the people who attend the course are Senior Managers or Associates who are trying to get into another field. MBA does not equal "alot of money" it does help of course but you'll find that the people who attend the course often have a lot of money and\or high powered job to begin with.

MBAs are also very helpfully to people who are trying to setup a company, entrepreneurs or people who have a small company and want to learn how to manage them better. They teach you all the basics of management \ accountancy \ business strategy \ Building processes \ managing risk that kind of thing.

The college you take the course in does reflect the MBA you get, some business prefer UCD, some prefer Trinity (In Ireland). One of the key benefits of attending an MBA is the amount of Networking you can do with the Senior Managers which will help you through the course and after

You need a take and score high in a test called the GMAT to get into the course, the test alone is quite difficult to do well in.

You should talk to Elaine from Smurfit UCD if you want more information. Ask her what the fail rate for the Smurfit MBA is.
