got a cheap second hand laptop off ebay. today i was going to get the driver for the wi-fi card working. i went to an internet cafe, downloaded onto my memory stick, great.
laptop doesnt recognise the usb stick in "My Computer" but recognises it in the bottom-right hand corner. then the computer froze so i held the power button down. no big deal. now its stuck in a diagnotics menu, i cant access Windows. what now? any help would be great. thanks

Could be a dodgey hard drive, bad ram ,multiple things.
When the laptops turned on and the Dell Bios screen appears, press F12 to get to thee boot options menu. Select Diagnostics Partition. Once it boots run the full test suite on all the hardware. This might lead you to what the problem is.
