not many M16's for that much

http://www.eirsoft.ie/store/product_info.php?products_id=100 Its DBOYS so quite reliable from what I hear, lost of rail space and its €190.

No M16 has a metal stock. Not even real ones. They're all nylon fibre. The reciever, barrel, trigger, and sights are the only parts you can hope to be metal. The barrel certainly will be, the reciever depends on manufacturer, sights usually are and the trigger is a lucky dip as to whether it will or not (but it makes little difference there).

    thanks for the advice,

so do these other dboys have the same main body as the more expensive one linked, with just diffrent stocks etc ?

I am presuming you want something Armalite looking and not specifically an M16?

The CA sportsline for a 140 Euro's is tempting cant believe its only that price!!!

I bought both the D-Boys M4's cos I could not decide which one to get!!!!
My D-Boys M4-A1 is metal bodied not ABS though.
    th_m4s.jpg

I would recommend the M4-A1 over the CQB.

the M4-A1 carry handle comes off to reveal a rail that you can mount a scope to.
you can also get a scope that goes over the carrying handle if you want to keep it on.

The M4-A1 has the battery in the handguard and its a standard shape.

The CQB the battery is a nun-chuck(Spelling) split type battery that has to be
fitted in the stock. Its a nightmare of a thing in my opinion to install the battery and
then later adjust the stock. I HATE this feature of the AEG. Also on the stock
of the CQB there are two plastic covers that keep falling off and will need to be glued!!
    th_m4-cqb-cranestock.jpg

The M4-A1 is way lighter, the CQB is way heavier as its got the rails on the handguard.
These rails are cool will let you add stuff to it but the point of balance gets messed up.
Also while the rail looks cool there is silver metal or something under it which looks naff!!

    th_m4-cqb-handguardtop.jpg

The CQB back sight is excellent though!
    th_m4-cqb-backsight.jpg

One last thing!!! I almost forgot one of them I cant remember which one comes with a barrel extender piece
to allow you to attach a silencer.

    thanks for the great post,:)

so now the question is what should i go for the :

    1.DBoys M4A1
    OR
    2.Classic Army M15 A4 carbine - "Sportsline"

the CA seems good because its got the good inside, while the dboy seems tobe more sturdy on the out side.

so any ideas also which is more powerfull if anyone knows ?

also cant the custom scopes fit these both guns and can you get diffrent handels ?

    thanks andy

edit:from googling i found this : http://fragcdo.com/2008/01/30/classic-army-m15a4-sportline/ any ideas on it and when it will be available in ire ?

Sportsline, sportsline, sportsline. Everytime. I'm so very impressed with it, you couldn't possibly get a better gun for the money.

Am I missing something here? I'm failing to see the difference between the CA M15A4 Sportsline and the CA M15A4 Sportsline?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,227 ✭✭✭awhir

yep the back bit is diffrent, but would i be able to get this later on as a extra ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭mcgovern

Sounds like the new one can take a bigger battery, my sportsline takes it in the handrail (I think thats what it's called anyway!) and the new one has the battery in the stock.

The new M15A4 is the rifle with a solid stock, the previous is the carbine version (Or M4, as most people call it).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭mcgovern

New one is up on MIA,
"comes complete with battery, charger, sling and safety glasses", for about €30 more but I prefer my stock :D

Edit: The carbine also comes with this pack now for same price.

just to clarify i will most likly not be playing any games i just want the gun for the looks :) and maby just practice hitting some cans and some distance stuf ,if a game ground comes close to me i might consider playin.

from study the Ca-s seems to have a crappy motor and isnt ment to look that great,i couldent find anything good on the dboy m4-A1 tho does the metal version of this gun look good ? ,in performence the guns seem to be around par from the reviews iv seen,

shiva what would you recceomend from ur 1st hand experince.

The solid stock is the option I'd go for. I wasn't a fan of them until I got one on a rifle and realised how bloody easy it makes battery changes and access.

as solid stock you mean abs(Plastic),so bout this all these models-parts are confusin me :)

so to verify the dboys m4-a1 is all plastic just with some metal like on the recuiver ?

which gun looks best overall ?

All stocks for Armalites are plastic (either ABS or Nylon Fibre depending on who made it. The latter being the better of the two) unless they're the fold-over variety. A solid stock is the name given to the "traditional" stock. They are not adjustable.

    Solid Stock

The alternative is the Crane stock which is fully adjustable for length. Crane stocks may or may not take a battery depending on the type it is. Some allow for a mini or large battery to be placed in the center tube of the stock. Some allow a split-stick formation battery (called a Crane stock battery for this reason) to be used by placing it in the ambidexterous cheekpiece on some Crane stocks.

    Crane Stock
    gun_0032.JPG

There are other stocks you can get for Armalites as aftermarket accessories such as foldover stocks which have a hinge that allows them to fold back upon the rifles body. When folded there is no usable stock surface at all. This type is commonly found on G36 series and Sig 552's. For obvious reasons, these will not take a battery.
Magpul stocks are also popular and are a variation on the Crane stock with several options available for style, adjustment type, colours and battery options. Again, not all of these will take a battery so be careful if you're choosing one that you're getting the one you need. Magpul stocks that carry batterys, often use the center tube to hold it.

The DBoys I sell is ABS, but you can get a metal version too. It tends to be way over-powered though (thats why I stopped selling it)

The CA Sportsline, although ABS, and much lighter, looks the best in my opinion.

Just on a little side note, the name Crane stock actually came from the Crane Naval warfare division in the US who designed the real crane stock. It just happened to fit the design description of the Airsoft version by chance.

Also from reviews I have read some crane stocks can be a pain to work with in the battery changing deprtment so you might want to look into the version your getting a bit more if you go down that route. They generally take high capacity batteries which is a plus though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

That is true, the batteries are named after the stock design, rather than vice-versa. Hence "Crane" and not "crane".

Crane stock batteries are a pain from what I've been told, which is why I'd advise the full stock simply for ease of use. But it is personal choice at the end of the day and if you prefer the look of the Crane stock then it's not a whole lot more hassle to go through.

how come they are so cheap compared to other etailers ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 589 ✭✭✭Beast ASI

    They're based in Hong Kong.

So you have to add Shipping charges onto it *should say at the bottom*, and customs charges possibly for importing it.

well this from one crane stock fanboy....

to use them is IMHO quite simple.

    1. set the crane stock to your appropriate length for comfortable use
    2. open the back
    3. put in battery

now i admit some need a screw to hold the back on some clip on but i dont think its more difficult then that. the crane batteries sometimes have 2 sticks that go in the left and right chambers, clip on your battery and its done. the 3 stick ones have the middle battery in the centre tube. thats pretty much it.

i do use duct tape as i dont use the screw but then again i use duct tape all over the place so thats just me. also lets be honest peq fake battery boxes are butt ugly, well at least i think they are.

so +1 for me for crane stocks but i am a fanboy of them...
