What is your opinion on this? Genuine or fake?

Genuine in the sense that there are 'three secrets of Fatima'. Fake in the sense that it is exceptionally unlikely that they were provided to a peasant girl by a supernatural creature. Only my opinion anyway but I favour scientific explanations that have a certain rigour to them rather than arbitrary magical beliefs.

What is the third secret anyway? Has the (RC) Church gone back on its word to release the text of the third secret?

    edited to add:

Ok, so the third secret has been revealed... and apparently it related to the attempted assasination of Pope JP II... he he he, I find this very amusing.. quote from the BBC
    BBC wrote:
Cardinal Angelo Sodano said the third part of the secret involved martyrdom and suffering, including a man "clothed in white" who "falls to the ground apparently dead, under a burst of gunfire".

Sounds very like a Nostradamus prediction.. could be made to fit many events... why didn't Mary simply say something concrete and the RC church reveal it before the fact.

Why was Pope JP II so sure that Mary helped the bullets not kill him? As Dawkins says, maybe the team of surgeons helped in some small way to save his life.

Why didn't Mary simply cause the bullets to miss completely?

translated text of the released third secret as per the following url
    http://www.ewtn.com/fatima/apparitions/Third_Secret/Fatima.htm

    Translation
Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions. Beneath the two arms of the Cross there were two Angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the Martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God.
    End Translation

How that is supposed to relate to Pope JP II assasination attempt I don't know... were there any arrows fired? Did many other people die, Bshops, lay people etc etc? Did angels appear and start sprinkling? Was there a group of soldiers or a single assasin? Was the city it happened in half in ruins? (I don't know, maybe it was). What big cross was the pope kneeling at when he was shot?

This is less believeable than Nostradamus and an embarrasment for the RC church in my opinion.
