    Hi,

My parents Sky is suffering serious pixelation/distortion (or whatever the correct terminology is). All the Irish channels and some of the movies4men and True Movies are affected badly but the strange thing is that all the other channels work flawlessly.

    I cant figure it out,
If it is a cable problem then shouldn't all channels be affected?
If it is a satellite alignment problem then shouldnt all channels also be affected (considering they are comign fromt he same satellite)?

As another issue, I have a remote tv link with power being recieved on the eye fine. Picture is great too. However it refuses to change channels. Feed is coming from RF2 and Power Output is set. I can neven see the red led flicker on the eye when the remote is used.
I have notcied something though, sometime when I press Volume+ on the TV remote, The Sky does register a "9" as being sent. Is it possible that there is some IR conflict between eye and TV?

    Thanks,

It could be a number of things including bad cabling and or a Dish alignment problem.

    1. First check the cable by making sure the outer braiding doesnt touch the inner core on the connecton to the sky box.

    2. Then check the signal quality by pressing services then 4, and 6,.This should be at least half way. if not then your dish has been knocked out of alignment.

    3. make sure you check the rf connecton on either end to try and remedy the magic eye problem.

    Thanks for you reply.

But surely any problems with cabling would result in a distortion for all channels? My signal quality looks at around the 40%-50% mark so its looking like an alignment problem.

As for the magic eye then I wouldnt get a picture or a red light on the magic eye if there was a problem with the cabling? I never actually tried turning of the television and using the Sky remote to maybe confirm if it is an IR problem, I'll try it tonight.

    Cheers,

Unfortunately cable problems can result in only certain frequencies or polarities being affected. Also bear in mind that different transponders use different power levels.
