Holliday pay entitlements?

Hi, I have been working full time in a retail store since last september. I will be finishing up at the end of May and I have not taken any hollidays as of yet. I am not planning to take any as I am hoping to just get them as pay when I leave my job in May. However, one of my managers has informed me that I may not be able to get them as pay. He reckons it depends on the pay roll budget and if they can afford to pay me holliday pay.
This sounds a bit dubious to be as surely if I have not taken any hollidays, then I should be entilted to them as wage? They also said that hollidays must be taken before end of March. At this stage it is too late for me to take them anyway. Can anybody please offer any advice here? Am I not entitled to holliday pay when I leave an employer?

    AFAIK,
They can pay you for the holidays however they like, as you are leaving. HOWEVER, they have to either let you take them before the end of the financial year, or pay you. It would seem you are unlucky with the end of their holiday year.

If they will not pay you for holidays (and they are entitled not to), they must give you the days off.

Some companies operate a "use them or lose them" policy.
So you took no holidays between September 07 and December 07 means you could have lost these

Depends on the company, you'll have to investigate further
