CS2 v CS3

    Hi All,

I'm doing a part time graphic design course at the minute, and I invested in two CS2 books because I had gotten a free copy of CS2.

However, I had some trouble installing it, and my lovely boyfriend went along a bought me the student version of CS3 (yup he's great).

Anyway, now I have "Adobe Creative Suite 2 for Dummies" and "Sams Teach Yourself: Adobe Creative Suite 2", but I have the newer version of the programmes.

I haven't installed CS3 yet (waiting for serial numbers etc from Adobe), but I'm just wondering if someone can tell me are these books useless for CS3 or are there any significant differences between the two versions.

Sorry for the long winded post...

nah they're all the same. CS3 has some new bells and whistles and is a bit more efficient performance wise. You'll love the new quick selection tool!

Every single function of cs2 is within cs3 and then some so everything in your books is still 100% relevant . A lot of the new tools in cs3 are highly specialised items and the only one that you are likely to encounter regularly is as 5uspect said is the quick selection tool and information you may need about this can easily be found (along with a vast wealth of other practical information) in online tutorials . Regardless of what your aims are , I would definitly supplement all your learnings from the book with online tutorials .Not only are the usually more relevant to the day to day more practical use of the programme but are also written by fellow users of the programme , the advantage of that being that you can share in their experiences and problems they have encountered on a personal basis.

Check out Scott Kelby's Photoshop User TV for good tutorials. There's loads more online but I find these very good and light hearted.

Also check out www.layersmagazine.com and www.layersmagazine.com/forum or forums?

    www.indesignsecrets.com

    www.tek-tips.com

I can be found on most of these on a regular basis, under a different alias as too with many other experts.

There is also a podcast of 5 minute tutorials on CS3. Don't have link to hand but it's available on iTunes.
