Sent a letter with the correct address but totally different (and wrong!) post code.

What are the chances of it getting to the address any time soon?

As far as I can tell I used the old post code for the new address

Not sure were else to post this

    Hi Op

I used to work for Royal Mail so to tell you the bad and good news is that your letter may get there eventually but it will be delayed, maybe by a few weeks, mail used to be sorted by hand but now most of the sorting offices use automated sorting machines that send the letters to the various areas via postcode only, and unless an eagle eyed sorter notices it, it will go to that sorting office, so for instance if you put a London postcode and it is addressed to Lancashire, it will go to the London sorting office, then someone will (hopefully) cross out the postcode and resend it to Lancashire where it may be sorted by human hand. I do believe it will get there eventually (but please God you haven;t put a passport or money in the letter because chances of it getting to its destination is slim).
